This book of poems and song lyrics covers over 20 years of living and creating in New York City. I live in the East Village section of Manhattan. The poem themes are summed up in the subtitle - Love. Nature. Song. In particular, I wrote a few poems/songs about NYC and the effects of gentrification. I have been writing poetry since I was a child and then switched to writing songs for many years during my music career. Around 10 years ago I retired from show business and traveled/backpacked the world. Upon returning to NYC I started to write more classic style poetry. I also went back to college to earn two degrees, a BA in Psychology and a MA in Arts Education from NYU. My nickname is Sto, thus Sto-etry! Enjoy!

Writing courageously of a world full of people leaning toward love but obsessed with self, Christopher Meesto Erato serves as both a mirror for our souls and a voice for our collective conscience. Love, Nature, Song - Review by Serena Wang  (PhD candidate in Musicology)Through this poetry collection the author pays homage to the three elements that make life meaningful. Love, however, is the one that weaves everything together. In the introduction the author refers to himself as a romantic and indeed, the collection is basically a love story--never the sentimental, saccharine kind, but a sincere, deep romance with life. There are struggles and frustrations of course, like with any relationship, but hope is always present.The poems are personal and autobiographical. The "Nature" section refers to both the love for the natural world (e.g. the superb "Millstream Swim Hole") and the author's keen observations of human nature. The several poems and songs on New York show how his life has been woven into the city's fabric.  I am glad that he is able to share his poetry with the rest of us and believe that many verses from this collection will soon become classics.

About the Author Christopher Meesto Erato is a NYC High School Teacher with a BA in Psychology and a MA in Art Education from NYU. Before becoming a full time teacher and writer, Christopher aka Sto (Sto-ology) was a professional Musician and Artist. In addition to playing the club circuit in NYC and LA, touring America and Europe, recording and having a couple songs get radio play, he got to warm up some of his heroes like The Ramones and The Red Hot Chili Peppers. Christopher also worked in film and video. He produced, acted in, and did music for an independent feature called "The Electric Urn" that won two awards at film festivals. Mr. Erato has spent half his life in NYC's East Village creating and performing and more recently teaching. He was born and raised in the Connecticut shoreline area.

A beautiful ensemble of poems, there is a common theme of existentialism and the meaning of life; however, other themes such as By socrates A beautiful ensemble of poems, there is a common theme of existentialism and the meaning of life; however, other themes such as love and other human emotions shine through. The author's style is sometimes prose and sometimes freestyle but always pleasing to the ear (mind?). There is emphasis on the urbanization and technology of today's world and how it impacts us. Overall, I thought it was an excellent collection - insightful and thought-provoking. Bravo to the author.

I felt like a student learning from an elder about the very simple truths of life that will ensure our survival and happiness. Love for another and what it means is delivered in poem and song which makes one long to actually hear it sung. As for the artfully expressed love for New York what more can be said, the author is in love.

Author fails to understand how to teach something By Jim Stroud The author fails to define basic syntax of python such as the % symbol as it is used with a string. He patiently and repeatedly tells you not to copy and paste, but wants you to go find a basic book on programming if you do not know how to use a command line to find a file. I have programmed in several program languages and I have written several intermediate to advanced programs. I have not use a command line sine the 80s. An author of a basic book should ALWAYS undercut the expected knowledge base of his reader.

About the Author James Sapsard was born in the New Forest and lives in London. He was the last barrister called to the Bar by Lord Denning. In 1999 he visited Screengems, North Carolina at the invitation of Frank Capra Jr. and was on set during the filming of Dawson's Creek after a meeting with John Kretschmer. He is the author of the screenplays, "Lovers, Victims And Heroes, Mr. Pinter", "South Of Left Bank" and "You Murdering Barristers!" the working title copy of which was read by Simon Beresford for Ralph Fiennes and by Lindy King for Ewan McGregor and of several other books of poetry. As a part time actor, his most recent role was as Lou Tanner in Neil Simon's, The Gingerbread Lady. His short story, "The Therapy Of A Violent And Professional Man" was shortlisted by Biscuit Publishing in 2007. He is also a photographer and digital media artist and his work has been published in the online digital art magazines, Revolutionart and Weekend Artists.

About the Author ANGIE BOWIE BIO By Adriana Rubio Author… Actress… Model… Musician… Mother... Former Wife of David Bowie. THE EARLY YEARS OF A LEADING LIGHT WOMAN: Angie Bowie was born on the island of Cyprus in 1949, the daughter of Colonel GM Barnett and Helena Marie Galas. Her father was a U.S Army veteran, a mining engineer and ran a mill for Cyprus Mines Corporation. Angie has a brother and grew up feeling like an only child in the family because her brother was 16 years older. Angie received her education in Cyprus first. At the age of nine she was sent to St. George’s School in Switzerland, a very well known international school for wealthy people, a place where she felt she did not belong to but helped her to learn how to survive as an independent-self-sufficient person. “First I had to learn French --then get used to being away from home and having only my own resources to support me. My sense of humor rescued me from extreme alienation, but we were all outsiders at St. George’s.” At the age of 16 Angie left Switzerland to attend the Connecticut College For Women in America where she began the journey of her own life. A lesbian relationship with a school mate started and resulted in college interference as was the way with many same sex relationships at that time. “The psychiatrist at the college grabbed my girlfriend and I, and imprisoned us in the surgery. I had to convince a nurse to bring me my clothes, and then I leapt from the second floor window and ran back to my dormitory. I packed and left for Cyprus within a few days.” In 1967 Angie went to England to study at Kingston Polytechnic. Angie Bowie is gifted with a remarkable intellect. She’s well read and well informed. England was definitely the place where she felt at home. “I believe the only place I truly felt at home was in England.” In 1969, Angie met David Bowie. He was trying to get signed to a record label - Mercury Records. Angie was working with Lou Reizner and Doctor Calvin Mark Lee, both executives for Mercury, so was able to get Mercury to release Bowie’s single SPACE ODDITY. Angie and David fell in love, married in 1970 and had a son called Duncan Zowie Heywood Jones. He dropped Zowie when he began his professional life and is now a well known film director.

The characters are interesting, and the storyline kept me reading page by page. I did become invested in finding out what happened to these two. And the sparks fly from their connection. Loved that!Here was what kept me from rating higher. I wanted more, I wanted to know more about the group he was from, what happens where the book just stops? I basically felt there was no closure, it stops like a cliffhanger. I've checked the author website, Amazon and Goodreads, and unless I am missing it there is no information on this being an ongoing series. So that left me wavering between a 3-4.So, yes I enjoyed it and yes I would recommend it as a fun read but I would have loved to have some more closure to the story, otherwise I had a great time reading it and I loved the two main characters. So since I did really enjoy what I read and was invested I went with a solid 4.Received a copy for an honest review.

The problem I had is with the heroine. She cried and whined almost the entire story. Also she was selfish and at times appeared stupid. It would have been a much better book with a different heroine who was unlike her.

I'm hoping there is, that it will be affordable and available in electronic format. Please!Ameia just celebrated her 18th birthday on her home planet of Terrea, where her father, Trivent, is sovereign. Because of security concerns, she has never been allowed off planet, so when her step-brother offers to take her for a quick space ride she rebels and accepts. But before they can return, a slavers ship appears and she is told to escape in a capsule programmed to return to Terrea. Something goes horribly wrong, though, and Ameia crashes on a strange planet dressed in a pretty pink dress and ballet flats, having no idea where she is or even how to operate the controls on the capsule to turn off the freaking alarm. Then a naked, screeching, screaming purple male alien appears and rolls her capsule downhill. And a game of cat and mouse begins, with "Beast" trying to communicate with "Mine" through his broken translator and as much kissing and touching as his skittish, sheltered princess will allow.Copy received in return for an honest review.

By Jase_loves_books In my psychotherapy practice, dating and relationship are the two troubling issues that clients most frequently present with. These two important elements of life are choppy seas for millions of people in modern society. There are no rules, time honored customs, rituals, or protocols in our fragmented and rapidly changing society. These fundamentals aren’t taught in school. Everyone is on their own, dragged around by years of societal and familial conditioning that for the most part they aren’t aware of. It’s no wonder that the divorce rate is hovering around 53% and 3 marriages are now common. There are a trillion self-help books that profess to know how to beneficially navigate dating and successfully cultivate healthy satisfying relationships with minimal conflict. Over the years I’ve read hundreds of them…or at least parts of them (most of them end up being used for office basketball practice (the book is the ball, the trashcan is the hoop) because that’s all they are good for, other than confusing people even more. When my office partner recommended Ten Terrible Truths About Men, I rolled my eyes but bought it and read it, expecting the worst.The first thing I noticed was that the author has a voice that most writers can only aspire to. As I continued reading it became apparent that this clear and direct voice was the confident expression of a writer that knows his material very well, and that has his eyes and ears attentively focused on dating and relationship. This is a unique voice of clarity and penetrating wisdom. It’s appropriate that each chapter of the book starts with Oscar Wilde quotes…I’m pretty sure that Mickey McClain must be the love child of Oscar Wilde and George Carlin…and I mean this in the best possible way. Like these two giants, the author has a way of deftly clearing away the dross, cutting to the bone, while holding up a clear mirror for us to see ourselves in as he wittily deconstructs the dating and relationship habits (both conscious and unconscious) of modern people. Male and female readers both should be prepared to see their own dysfunctional dating and relationship habits nakedly revealed in example after example, mercilessly but with grace and humor. Especially humor…I can’t recall ever laughing out loud when reading a book, but I sure did with this one.The most impressive thing to note is that while the author skillfully and critically takes apart typical dating and relationship patterns with no mercy, he also just as skillfully shows the inverse of the habits that undermine the desired goal of a happy long term partnering…offering practical, effective, and common sense ways of cultivating one’s life so that healthy dating and relationship patterns are the effortless result of a life well lived. The ten terrible truths about men, and what they reveal regarding the terrible truths about women, have the power to set you on the path to an effective, socially-engaged contentment and an enduring happiness that will organically result in a well-grounded, meaningful, cooperative relationship. I highly recommend this unconventional book that skillfully replaces conditioning, myth, and unconscious reactive habits with consciously grounded intention, action, and beneficial results.

I know what they say, but that old saying about judging books by their cover is asinine. I'm thinking it was written by someone with a horrible cover and poor book sales. I liked the mash-up of several classic works of art, especially David with a bra over his shoulder. Considering David's transgression with Bathsheba, it's very fitting.From the cover I read the description and checked out the author. This book merited further exploration, so I went ahead and bought it.I do a lot of counseling in my professional life and marital and relationship counseling is a big part of that. Because of this I like to read other people's points-of-view on the subject. I've read Men are from Mars, but I also enjoy reading books from the man's POV. I'm certainly not a guy that believes it's always the man's fault or that a man should neuter himself and drop his balls in his wife's purse the day he gets married.A man should be a man. A woman should be a woman. And both should meet somewhere in the middle in order to enjoy a relationship.I'll say right away that I may not agree with everything in the book. That's okay, though, because I'm also not one that believes my opinion is the only one that's valid. What's presented in Mickey's book is worth reading, and I'd highly recommend you check it out.Guys, beyond reading the book I'd also recommend you find some way to get your wife or girlfriend to check it out. Good luck on that, but it is worth the effort.Oh yeah, my favorite chapter, you ask? It's got to be chapter 2 about sex. It focuses on everything I'd love to get across to others, including mentioning the hard truths about a possible consequence/blessing of lots of sex...kids. I have 4 kids and realize more than many how much time they require before they mutiny and tie you up in your sleep with demands of candy, soda, and more TV time.For now, just go ahead and buy the book. I'll try to come up with some ideas of how to get your lady to read it.

Insightful Book; Excellent Writing By Matt Nelson Before I get into my review, I’d just like to not that I am a man who purchased this book for my girlfriend, but read it myself before I passed it along. It’s actually quite an insightful read that comes from a different point of view than other books on this issue, which my girlfriend and I both found refreshing and unique. If you’re a woman thinking about buying this book, here’s a disclaimer: this isn’t some beat around the bush book filled with fairy tales and vague advice about love and listening to your heart, this is a book that will tell you exactly how (most) men feel without supplementing it with any feel-good nonsense. If you can’t handle reality, this may be upsetting to you. You have been warned. If you read this book with an open mind and think about the messages included within, it can be a real eye-opening experience that carries over into real life and truly can make you happy. If you plan on having a stuck-up attitude and just skimming the pages without putting any actual thought into what you’re doing, don’t waste your time. Without giving away any of the book’s wonderful content, I’ll say that this is an expertly written book with a ton of interesting stories and anecdotes that all tie together to make very clear and specific points about men and relationships, and how to keep them happy. There are some shockingly worded conclusion that the author reaches, but don’t take these as a joke or let them put you off- he does an excellent job explaining them and making a clear point. Overall, I’d say the writer’s voice and style can be heard strongly throughout the book, and this is what kept me wanting to turn the page. The intermittent Oscar Wilde quotes add food for thought and help prepare you for what the author is about to say, or reinforce his ideas. If you’re looking for an honest, straight from the heart approach to explaining relationships and how to get the most from them, buy this book. If you want to understand what men really care about and why, buy this book. You’ll be entertained along the way as well. If you want to read something that will change the way you see the world, this book will do that for you. Just make sure you’re ready, because this is some heavy (but true) stuff!

Valuable Read for anyone interested in SF in Vietnam By Fabio Mann Detailed but modest remembrances by the author of an incredible and challenging period in American History. Too bad that most people don't read anymore. This should be required study for anyone who has even the most basic political aspirations. Until we start sending our politicians to war FIRST, American Warriors will always struggle, fight, and sometimes die while handicapped with "terms of engagement..." As evidenced by our most recent conflicts, our "elected" politicians and their appointees will find new ways of snatching defeat from victory. However Mr. Valentine demonstrates that even through "the Fog of War," America's elite warrior has no equal in combat. Mr. Valentine's straight forward but simple writing style creates a matter-of-fact ambiance throughout his personal account. He actually enhances the reader's experience with his tone, in no way diminishing the importance of the events, but rather allows his narrative style to draw the reader even closer to the action and drama, all of which is exemplified by the veracity and accuracy of his personal memoir. I would love to read more from Mr. Valentine, and I thank him for his service.

Being a Vietnam vet myself, I like to follow the newer books and see how the other guys had it. This one is among the top 2 - 3 that I have read. MSgt Valentine has managed to bring the reader along on his personal and extensive military experience. As they say, in the mud and the blood and the beer. An easy read; one can appreciate why an American Green Beret is a special person as well as a special soldier.

A real book written by a real Warrior By Doub51 This book felt very much like you're sitting around a kitchen table after a great home cooked meal, and your Dad's friend is relating some stories about his life in the Military. Has a home spun feel to it, easy to read, very insightful. no Rambo guts and glory stuff. Has a few opinions on the way some things in the military are run, and some opinions on govt, women that some might get offended by. Maybe. Honestly, no worse than a friend having a different opinion than you on a subject. His opinion, he lived it and has a right too say it.If you are interested in a story on someone's life of 20 or so years in the military, pre Vietnam to almost the end of Vietnam, you would be hard pressed to read anything better.Don is certainly someone I would like to meet and talk with over a few adult beverages. The time would fly.Just like the pages in this book.

By Rob Natiuk The author's introduction lets us into his journey of wanting to be a writer. Besides writing local news for his town's newspaper, he also wrote a weekly humor column for the last 7 years. So he had more than enough for a book, right? Wrong, he discovered as he went through more than 300 of his columns. Many were no longer of current or national interest. But he chose enough for this book, revised and re-worked. And we have a humorous book with a nostalgic midwestern feel to it. America at its best! And funniest. And "God-honoring."We're off to a rollicking adventure right up front in the first story--"The Dark Knight Rises"-- about the author's attempts to get rid of the "bat invader." Successfully, he thought. But that bat arose from the trash can and into the kitchen. And then into the bedroom. Finally -- I won't spoil the ending for you, except to say with the author, "Godspeed, my friend." That to a bat--"the dark knight."More stories along that line-- "Ceremonies and Salt Pellets"... "Jumping Fish" is up there with the Jumping Frogs of Calaveras Country by Mark Twain. Homely and humorous stories in a gentle way-- "Ant Infestastion"... cat stories... stories of smalltown humans... golf balls and the Large Hadron Collider. The author's humor is much about connections between things that hardly any one, except an astute country humorist, would connect.I'm so glad this book and author came into my life! I believe you'll be glad too-- that is, if you like gentle laughter that stays with you throughout the day, or soothes you into dreamland. But you might dream about flying bats, jumping fish, Dr. Bananas, and colliders the size of golf balls. A most enjoyable journey, it will be! I look forward to more books by this modern Will Rogers. By Bernie Lutchman I think we have found our own Midwestern 21st century “Mark Twain” – right here in Mason City, Illinois, in the form of newspaper reporter/author/graphic designer Larry Crossett! I usually do not write reviews on every Kindle book I purchase and/or read, but this one brings a ready smile which stays all the way through this very fast read. The name of the work is “BEST FOOT FORWARD: God Honoring Humor (Midwest Journey).Derived from a collection of essays, which Larry mentioned were published in several area weekly newspapers, the short chapters are bite sized enough with descriptive expertise for which Midwestern humorists like Twain, Will Rogers and Garrison Keillor have come to be recognized. The humor is both personal, from Crossett’s family life foibles as well as from observation of Midwestern small town and rural life.For instance, having seen the environmentally destructive flying Asian carp fish operate in our Midwestern rivers, one gets the same feel of being in the boat on “Redneck Fishing Tournament” days as Huck Finn had on the Mississippi on a raft (chapter on Jumping Fish). Also, the winter of 2015 brought infestation of ants in almost every Midwestern homes and kitchens, due to high water tables. So the chapter on “Ant Infestation” brings a little humor to that real life annoyance. The essay on “ENFIDOL” is an extremely funny satire on medication infomercials (or maybe it wasn’t a satire…hmmm)!The book's chapters include titles like ICM not IBM; Amy vs Cat; When Golf Ball Collide and more. This is definitely a fun read to lighten the seriousness of the time, even for an hour or two. Also, fear not – Book 2 – “The Wisdom of Answer Man….More God Honoring Humor” will follow this Spring. All us who love the writings of Mark Twain and now, his modern day successor, eagerly look forward to that and more Midwest Journey humor, along the way!

3 of 3 people found the following review helpful. Great book! By Andrew Starting in Camp Bastion, Helmand this is a first class enjoyable short read written in a humorous entertaining style. It is British black comedy and takes a difficult subject, closed memory syndrome and an inability to break out of a particular way of thinking, follows through on rehabilitation with new attitudes being instilled, so that the subject Fred is equipped with the tools necessary to reawaken latent skills which have not been previously developed and are now brought to the fore to make him a more complete personality. Fred is accident prone, both within his sphere of work and relationships, frequently goes off on a tangent and it is the interplay with both colleagues and the opposite sex which allow for a lot of laughs. It ends in the Lower Pennines in the England where Fred has unwittingly created the UK No. 1 Dogging spot. It leaves the reader on tenterhooks wondering … what happens next?

Mostly he brags about his experiences as a Crip and blames Whitey for making African Americans hate themselves to the point of killing each other. He is a racist who hates everyone, and of course, was always falsely accused. Only in the last few pages does he accept any responsibility for his actions, but it sounds rather insincere. This guy is where he belongs. Writing is not bad, although many words misused. Pretty good actually for a self-educated man.
