Lockett Prepare to be amused, amazed, appalled and enlightened about what awaits you in the world of online dating. A fun book with true stories that will leave you shaking your head in wonder at your fellow man. There are some good suggestions to follow if you or your friends (male or female) are seriously considering online dating. The writing is wry and witty, with some solid story telling. I've seen them play to sold-out standing-ovation houses. I've even cried during their shows. But this book is hands-down their most hysterical achievement in a long long line of hysterical achievements. Buy this book. Buy it for friends. Buy it for strangers. Just buy it. And then read it. Or make your friends read it. Or your strangers. Then come back here and tell me how right I am. I like to know that I'm right. Cuz with this book, I'm right. Selections from this book will be shown to guests at my house for years to come.

Hedges The surrealist comedy troupe Kasper Hauser puts their unique spin on airborne shopping with this wonderful spoof of the utterly ludicrous offerings of SkyMall catalogs. I was especially entertained by the narrative of "A Message From SkyMaul's CEO..." extolling how shopping saved his life (in Las Vegas, of course) and kept his family ("lovely wife, Pfepfer," "two children, Horace and Candy," and "Labrador buddy, Melchus") together. With that premise firmly ingrained, the catalog moves from the twisted and bizarre, to the surreal and other-worldly.It's impossible for me to pick my favorite product in the catalog, though I think the Llamacycle would be near the top of the list. I also loved the concept of the "'Cut Above' Electronic Hair-Salon-Naming Computer," ("Hairly Legal," "Shave Me, I'm Drowning," "Banged 'n' Feathered," "From Hair to Eternity," etc.), which with additional modules can also help name your scone cart, coffee shop, or crepe restaurant. The scientific part of my brain loved the "Air Straightener," while the animal lover in me liked the "'Moby Dick' Hamster Coffin." Perhaps my favorite concept in the book is the collection of "motivational posters" from "Probletunity Knocks." I utterly loathe motivational posters, so mocking them was a certain hit with me. For the extremely deranged there's the "Hitler-Turning-into-Werewolf Nightlight," sure to be useful because it's "new monitor function allows the wolf's eyes to follow you or your baby around the room and emits a 'safety growl' anytime someone moves toward it."Although the type of humor in the catalog is occasionally a bit base, the book is funny across the board and is the definitive skewering of the excremental products in the actual SkyMall catalog.

Are they with Saturday Night Live or something? The Onion? The products in their book, SkyMaul, are so twisted and unexpected and funny. I couldn't put this thing down. I read it all in one sitting. The Hitler/Werewolf night light! Who thinks of that? Whatever their next book, I'm in line to buy 12 of them. Very, very funny!

Too many spelling errors, missing or incorrect words… Not to mention the use of ‘WTF’ and ‘BTW’ in the dialogue… really??Just not ready for publication.Plot – 3.5/5.0 (Good) – VERY MINOR SPOILERSOkay. Let’s be reasonable here… The premise of the story and the central plot; Very, very good.There was a lot to be said for the idea of the refugee fleet arriving in the middle of a conflict and the confusion it causes, but this doesn’t seem to be the entire focus of the plot and, as a result, the execution is very erratic.There is no given timeline for the start of the story. Martians are clearly an ‘alien’ race… or are they? The refugees are apparently the descendants of a colony… or are they? If they are, then why are they so different? Many hundreds of generations must have passed.The author freely admits that there are some things he knows were wrong, but that really doesn’t excuse the massive plot holes that are thrown into the read… and with the best will in the world, there has to be enough realism in sci-fi to give it grounding.This doesn’t seem to have any.General – 2.0/5.0 (Poor)Nice cover, good plot potential. Not at all executed well.Possibly the most memorable part of the story is Lexi’s constant efforts to get a sandwich and a coffee. Beyond this, the writing seems to be aimed at how this would look as a big movie scene.Unfortunately, that needs descriptive and a prose which does not continually throw meaningless terms out as if everyone understands them.The daft thing is, I didn’t hate this. I really wanted to like it and yes, there were brief flashes of a well-told story. Regrettably, they were too brief and too few.I really don’t think this is beyond salvation, but this author needs to embrace a more descriptive style and, at the very least, a proper writing structure and look at this work with fresh eyes.In its current incarnation, even as a free book and a very quick read… 2 Stars.

I like the change in time references from standard minutes/hours, but beyond that - there was unnecessary foul language. Overall, I felt like I got 4/5 of an episode, that made me wishing there was more and made me wonder what the broader story was. Not a complete waste of time, but also not the best reading I've had lately.

Update: it gets clearer By Amazon Customer Update 12/20/15: Note that while I stand by my original notes (below), the second half of chapter 4 cleared some things up. I've updated my rating from 2 to 3 stars. If the rest of the book continues without more typos and sections in the wrong order, I'd up my rating again to 4 stars. I also submitted several of the typos I noticed, and got a notice from the publisher that the authors had accepted those corrections. I don't know if those corrections will make it into THIS edition, or if they'll only affect a next edition the authors might publish. Hopefully the former! So, if you download this book and bog down some in chapter 4, just try pushing through and keep going, and things may clear up for you some.This book was frustrating to use. The book's approach seems to be to rush the reader through the creation of an app, and only partially explain things along the way. I imagine that they may explain some of the mysteries later in the textbook, and that they want to rush you along to give you the satisfaction of having created something that works.However, I've found a number of typos and errors. That's a problem, because the reader is likely new to Node/MongoDB, since it's an introductory textbook. When the book instructs you to run the app so far and something goes wrong because of one of those errors, it's hard for the reader to know how to solve the problem, because the book hasn't explained how everything in the app actually works.In Chapter 4, for example, the book helps us create a very simple 'server.js' file, and run that file. So far, so good. The book does a decent job of explaining that file so far, what's in it, and why. Then the next section adds a 'configure.js' module, and this is where the problems start. The book says that the app should still run smoothly after updating the 'server' file and adding the 'configure' file. But the 'configure' code listed in the book has two semi-obvious syntactical typos. Even after correcting those, the app doesn't run correctly, because the 'configure' module is requiring a third module, './routes', which the book hasn't given us instructions for creating yet.The book gives the impression of not having been very well reviewed/edited. I'm nearly ready to give up on it. Maybe it will get clearer after chapter 4, and the outside reading I'll need to do to understand any poorly-structured parts will probably be good for me anyway. But I really can't recommend this book.

Best reference book for Node.js and related technologies By Hüseyin BABAL As a reviewer of this book, I can say that this book is complete reference for the people who want to cover all the stuffs about Node.js and related technologies. After basic start with Javascript basics, all the basic terms like Non Blocking I/O are covered in a simple way supported with examples. At the end of this book, you will be able to create web applications with Express.js and MongoDB, design RESTful services, write unit and integration test to build high quality applications. One of the difficult thing about using Node.js is choosing frameworks for creating web applications, but you are lucky. There is also fancy comparison section about commonly used frameworks in this book.

Game elements can be included in course design by using, badges, rubrics, custom grading scales, forums, and conditional activities. Moodle courses do not have to be solo-learning experiences that replicate Distance Education models.

The Gamification design process starts by profiling players and creating levels of achievement towards meeting learning outcomes. Each task is defined, valued, and sequenced. By CharlieBOOKFAN I just really skimmed this book so far and it looks decent especially for the price, if I read it all the way I might revise my review but it could be laid out better for sure with the more important stuff easier to find and in better easier to understand charts but it's a cheap kindle book, I would have liked if a matrix chart was included even if the author doesn't really recommend deviating much from basic strategy himself which that reality was even hard to find and even though he don't want to copy other authors work a simplified matrix chart with at least 15-20 of the most important index numbers should have been in here but oh well plus more complete and easy to read and understand betting ramp charts for various games based on what count you are using should be included as well in my opinion for sure cause your betting is super important in blackjack and essential actually but overall pretty good book, accurate from what I have seen so far which is good especially when a lot of these cheap kindle books overall aren't accurate at all and are just a waste of money you can tell this author has actually played plus the stories and history are really interesting and the book has some size to it with the number of pages and substance, definitely worthy of picking up in my opinion for Blackjack fans and players!

There are many secrets about the casinos in his stories about playing blackjack as part of a team and also alone. Some of it's pretty funny.

The chapters teach you the basics of the game and how to play at the casino tables, but also has a story about how the author learned and played with a team of players to make big money. Pretty exciting, great even for experienced players!

George Antheil was an American avant-garde composer, pianist, author and inventor whose modernist musical compositions explored the modern sounds - musical, industrial, mechanical - of the early 20th century. This minimalist, beautifully designed picture book tells of the premier of one of Antheil's most famous works. Robert Lockwood lives and works in Maine. He studied painting and design at the Philadelphia College of Art, and painting, drawing, and classical guitar in Madrid, Spain. He received a BFA and MFA at the Tyler School of Art, Temple University. He taught drawing and design at the Philadelphia College of Art and has shown his paintings and drawings at the former Marian Locks Gallery in Philadelphia and the O.K. Harris Hundred Acres Gallery in New York City. His work is in several museum and private collections. In addition, Lockwood has redesigned hundreds of newspapers. He started the first international information graphics news service "News Graphics." He created the information graphics news service for the Associated Press and for 18 years worked as a consultant for AP's executive editor and president. He led a series of seminars for the Centre de Perfectionnement des Journalistes et des Cadres de la Presse in Paris, France. With wife Nancy he operated a news design and editorial consultancy with clients in the U.S., Canada, South America, Europe and Southeast Asia. When I was a little girl, I had two art picture books given to me by a schoolteacher aunt. Those little books with very bad reproductions of fine art opened my eyes to the excitement of art. This book, in a different way, struck me as the perfect gift to capture a child's imagination about the world of the arts. The idea that music can be transformative and so powerful it makes the audience go wild (in one way or another) can be exhilarating. The wonderful and charming illustrations by the artist author convey a sense of movement and excitement that allows the reader to move with the music without having to hear a note. My favorite part of the book, though, is the "roll call" of artists, writers and musicians who were Antheil's contemporaries and who helped move the arts into the modern era. The mini-biographies of those luminaries at the end would have launched me on a research project when I was a child, (Google makes it that much much easier now, which is good because, sadly, I didn't know everyone mentioned.). This is a book I would have loved to own as a child, and am glad I received now. It's perfect for a bright curious pre-teen or teen, well, really, for readers and lovers of the creative arts no matter their age.
