By InfoHound Minecraft Construction Essentials: The Ultimate Construction Handbook for Minecraft by Victor LopezKindle Edition Free download, List price $2.99Publication Date: March 16, 2015This is not a bad guide, well worth having for free, but it’s not worth paying for.The lack of illustrations drops this book from essential to basic and simplistic.Illustrations for the devices described are essential if you want to show someone how something is done. Some editing of the text is in order, number of instances like the one below‘…Strong homes are virtually difficult to enter by mobs but what happens…’I’m still trying to figure this one out.Over all this rates 3 stars, adding appropriate illustrations would greatly improve the value of this book.

From the Author Foreword by Mike Nefkens, Executive Vice President, Hewlett Packard Enterprise. We are on the midst of a major market disruption. Cloud, mobility, big data and security are converging and how enterprises respond will determine success or failure. Turning game-changing ideas into value faster than competitors is no longer a nice to have - it is the only way to survive and thrive. Companies like Uber and Airbnb didn't exist until a year or two ago and they are already transforming their respective industries. We no longer have the luxury of time. We need to drive continuous transformation in our enterprise at the pace being set by these market making competitors, and radically shift to the way customers want to do business, or we risk losing them.  All of this is creating a true inflection point for executives around the world - disrupt or be disrupted. Companies need to embrace their core competencies and both act and react instantly to new strategies, tactics and market pressures to ensure competitive advantage. In this book, Stawski uses real-life examples to demonstrate this need to drive continuous change and innovation, create new business models and make technology a true business enabler.  This is an excellent guide for any CEO, CIO, business or IT professional that is seeking to understand the changing world of enterprise IT, its relationship to a company's overall business strategy and success and how to turn it into a competitive weapon that helps propel your business further, faster.

The next wave or risky proposition, only the future will tell By atmj This is a business book more than an a book on computer convergence and the Internet of things. It is about businesses hiring out their IT services to companies that specialize in IT, rather than managing this capability in-house. In the author’s words, instead they should be focusing on their core-competency and instead outsourcing for things that are not. I know in the past few years I have seen large companies outsource cleaning, security, cafeterias etc. But, how vulnerable would this leave a business if their critical services are being handled by another? Price gouging comes to mind as does system failures etc. But, on the same token, so does obsolescence. Over the years I have seen various large companies depending on outdated software and employees struggling to manage new technologies coming in. If these could be hired out, it might be cheaper. But, that still takes a lot of faith. While the idea is captivating, another thing that gives me pause is that the author writing about this works for a company that provides these services. About halfway in, I got to thinking this was a long sales pitch. Mind you, I don’t disagree with him, and I’m certainly not qualified to critique the idea, but being the skeptic my first thought was, there is additional motivation for this book. The author makes a good point when it comes to security and experience. Who would you trust more with personal data, employees and servers at Home depot or other such business, or one whose living depends on providing online security? A good point indeed. I know in my own experience often the IT personnel in a company that does not focus on IT services is far from the highest skilled and often employees with a frazzled computer are left wanting or with long waits for resolutions. As a relatively forward thinking person I have a lot vested in cloud services: Google Docs and pictures, Amazon Prime and Pictures, Dropbox, Evernote, On-line banking and entertainment, as well as Yahoo, Gmail, even Facebook, and other cloud items. Many of which I don’t pay for, but still personally depend on. My life is in the cloud. So this is the future. It feels risky for me and I would dare say also for businesses that have always prided themselves in owning what keeps their business running. But like outsourcing things like security and even subcontracting parts of their operation this might just be the next wave that makes the difference in success or failure.

A brilliant book By Joseph Oppenheim This book discusses the intersection of Big Data, the Cloud and Mobility and how it represents not just a new trend or an incremental step in technology, but an "Inflection Point," such that it makes nearly all businesses obsolete unless they transform their IT immediately.Basically, computers and software should be seen as a utility service, provided by another company that has as its core competency, providing and maintaining such systems for a reasonable periodic service fee. Then, the company should stick to its core competencies. so, no need for its own data center, computers, existing software and staff to manage updates. Also part of this inflection point are Apps. The internet is now really a collection of applications, such that one could start a new business in a short time without prior knowledge, using Apps. So, incremental will not work now, since competition can now develop and improve super fast. A key word now is disintermediation. massive loss of jobs, basically because of elimination of middlemen. This SaaS (software as a service) and the disintermediation resulting is amplified with the Internet of Things with machines communicating with machines via the Cloud, bypassing the need for additional jobs, and steps for ordinary humans outside the workplace. The book also addresses how one can better evaluate stocks for their personal portfolio, considering the above. The popular metric of EBITDA (earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization) is worthless because now, this excludes the very things which could make the company uncompetitive in this new environment. Instead, ROIC (return on invested capital), is perhaps now the premier metric to be used, along with cash flow. Also, the book covers MDM (mobile device management), very important to let company employees use their own mobile device, maybe only just partially subsidized by the company since it also can be used for personal stuff. The key being simplicity. The book also mentions mobile middleware, which allows Apps to communicate with Apps. The beauty of this book is how it ties together these very important concepts in such a neat way, making an easy and fast reading book. I heartily recommend it.

Easy to understand analysis of IT trends By TJS Inflection Point: How the Convergence of Cloud, Mobility, Apps, and Data Will Shape the Future of Business examines how businesses can leverage the trends occurring, and changing, every day in the information technology (IT) field. It examines the success and failures of businesses impacted by inflection points. Written in terms the average layman can understand, Inflection Point is a fascinating look at the birth and transformation of IT trends in the business world.I couldn’t help but compare Inflection Point to Malcolm Gladwell’s The Tipping Point, which examines trends and why they become popular in society and popular culture. In much the same way, Scott uses former Intel CEO Andy Grove’s definition of an inflection point: “an event or a series of interrelated events that result in a significant change in the progress of a company, an industry, a sector, an economy, or even a nation,” which is very similar to Gladwell’s definition of a tipping point: “that magic moment when an idea, trend, or social behavior crosses a threshold, tips, and spreads like wildfire.” While Gladwell examines this phenomena from a sociological perspective, Stawski examines it from an IT and business perspective.Scott breaks down how companies can anticipate inflection points within their respective industries and how they can stay ahead of the trend wave. Additionally, he provides real-world examples of businesses that have succeeded or failed, based on their ability to recognize and adapt to inflection points. He highlights steps taken by companies whose CEOs or COOs have embraced changes in technology and taken their companies to the next level while their competition floundered and failed. He provides a detailed explanation and description of cloud computing and encourages companies not to worry about ‘how’ it works, but, instead, focus on the fact it works and what the expected outcome should be. This is good advice for the average person as well as the CEOs and COOs of the business world. You don’t have to understand combustible engines to get in your car and drive.Scott also does a very good job of addressing the issue of security with regard to cloud computing. In the age of compromised data, when everyone is affected by the IT breaches of Target and the government’s Office of Personnel Management, security should be at the forefront of everyone’s mind. He highlights that the majority of data breaches have occurred against businesses employing the traditional IT model. By breaking down the different cloud computing models, he explains how security can be leveraged at each level of usage.Although written from a business perspective, Inflection Point is an extremely useful analysis of changing IT trends for the average person. Scott uses simple, easy-to-understand language to explain the current trends within the IT enterprise – cloud computing, Software as a Service, and Big Data. He incorporates real-life experiences from his personal life as a hobby sailor, as well as his professional life as a consultant, to draw analogies between how we use IT in our personal life and how businesses can use IT to further their interests.***Copy provided in return for an honest review***

In the ups and downs of life, for me the writing of a poem allows breakthrough, deeper understanding, and celebration or acceptance of a situation. I love sensing a poem taking shape in my head. This causes me to stop, listen, and write down what is there. I live more fully when I can express a situation, a scene, an emotion by writing a poem. Japan is the only place abroad I have visited, and it has provided several poems as well as the title of this book. Komorebi is my favorite Japanese word. Find out why as you navigate the poetry of my life. "Her poems are vivid images evoking God's intersection with our lives. They bring us needed respite in a world of wounds" -Jane Kirkpatrick, New York Times bestselling author of All Together in One Place. "Gail Box Ingram is a poet after my own heart. The world is more beautiful with poetry, and especially Gail's. Her imagery is rare, and combined with her appreciation for the human struggle and humanity period, I am proud to call her a fellow-poet" Laura Harris Smith, #1 bestselling author of Seeing the Voice of God: What God is Telling You Through Dreams and Visions (2014)

About the Author I was born in a small town in a huge country, and when I was in school, I decided that this city wasn't enough for me and wanted to go beyond this small place. I aimed for and ended up in one of the most prestigious universities in my country and received a great education. I realized that to achieve my dreams; I needed to work even harder. Even though I was working hard, I never let go of my main passion - BOOKS!. I read anything that came onto hands. I also realized that there was a writer living inside me, and so I decided to share my thoughts with others and help them find answers to the questions that troubled me through writing. One evening, I met a friend of mine, and he told me that this place called "ComputerWorld" was looking for a technical writer; an author to review things about computers and video games. I was interested, and I passed the interview smoothly. Thus, the birth of my writing career. But I did not leave science and was interested in everything that is spinning, spinning, and that's living and developing. I continued to read more and more about technical and fiction literature. I studied the theme of health, a healthy diet and a healthy lifestyle, meditation, and relaxation. In my mind, there was a formula of what it is it like to devote his life for Books! Making thoughts! Creativity! The ideas that are in my books contains my experiences, knowledge, and experiences of other people with whom I consulted on this or that issue, as well as a generalized experience I described in a variety of other books, technical literature, and documentation. And yet. Why did I start with books on computers and gaming topics? This is what I do best and have been for ten years. I still read a lot, think, analyze... For questions, they need to be answered. But only after I'll take care of the problem and be sure that I can help others

2 of 2 people found the following review helpful. Thank you for advice on choice . By Veronika I read a lot of sites with reviews and specifications on Amazon devices. But nowhere to be found comparing the hardware and software readers for books from amazon.com.After reading the reviews, I decided that this is a comparison that occurred to me many times. But still decided to buy the book, because I need to choose an ebooks reader and the iPad I do not fit, because screen iPad glares on a sunny day, and charge it is necessary to once every three-four days. After reading the book, I am fully determined. It will be a Kindle Paperwhite .

And Agamemnon Dead An Anthology of Early Twenty First Century Irish Poetry Edited by Peter O'Neill & Walter Ruhlmann Michael McAloran -- Amos Greig -- Dylan Brennan -- Christine Murray -- Arthur Broomfield -- Peter O' Neill -- Rosita Sweetman -- Michael J. Whelan -- Anamaría Crowe Serrano -- Peadar O' Donoghue -- Strider Marcus Jones -- Colm Kearns -- John Saunders -- Kevin Higgins -- Paul Casey -- Sarah Brown Weitzman -- Eithne Lannon -- Maighread Medbh -- Jack Grady -- Bob Shakeshaft ". . .there does indeed exist a whole world of writing out there which seems to live in a parallel universe alongside the more familiar voices which appear in the mainstream media, here in Ireland. There is nothing remarkable being said here, is it not always the case in every period, no matter what society? There will always be the majority, who somehow would appear to expound the specific values and criteria which that particular society holds up." Peter O'Neill extract from the Preface

In the introduction Editor Peter O’Neill laments the politics of who is published in the mainline press and who is not, as if meritocracy is a game that lives in the shadows. This volume of poetry breathes into the shadows and manifests life. This cross-section of Poets, each with their own voice and distinctive style is the first breath of peace after the 30 years of sectarian violence in Northern Ireland that led to the repatriation of Ireland under Home Rule. The war began in the late 1960’s and was largely disbanded after the Belfast “Good Friday” Agreement of 1998. In the beginning times of The Troubles, no one talked of the violence, it was verboten, and people murdered and brutalized, missing pieces of the sky. In the 30 years of violence, more than 3,500 people have died. The highlight of this poetry is the celebration of the vernacular and the Celtic lilt of language, inside New Age synergies for peace. The anthology begins with a long poem by Michael McAloran, a Ulysses (James Joyce) cracker barrel, an argument/celebration on the edge of a broken love affair. The death imagery, the broken train of thought, enigmatic and dislocated fragments with slashes between thought structures. A fantastical poem. Michael McAloran has written over 10 books of poetry and is the poetry editor at Bone Orchard Poetry.Amos Greig has been involved with the literary community of Belfast and Ireland for 25 years, writing, published in 4 anthologies and a book of poetry, he is the Editor of A New Ulster. Belfast Child is a juxtaposition of violence/death with life and a brush of Imagist influence using allusions to nature.Dylan Brennan is an emerging Irish Poet currently based in Mexico. He has just published Blood Oranges, his first full book of poetry in 2014. The poetry presented here is a travelogue of Mexico, particularly good is The Men in Fake Uniforms. The story of being interrogated by the police while travelling on a bus, being taken off the bus and another tourist being left behind. Bones of Anonymous Children, Deliver Us and Misspelled Messages all have themes of violence and human rights abuses brilliantly written.Christine Murray is an Irish Poet and stonecutter who has written books of poetry and archives women’s and new poetry at http://poethead.wordpress.com. Someone Wants Lovecraft’s Head presents the sad state of love lives in the West, “Someone thinks hate kills hate.” An exciting read.Arthur Broomfield is an Irish poet, writer, Beckett scholar and editor of Outburst. He has been published in Ireland and the U.K. In A learned treatise on why Irish poetry moved from a dessert to a desert he laments the lament of all poets, why are they not published more. He also presents After Market Day, Finestere, 1882 by Henry Jones Thaddeus a classic gift of poetry that is not out of place in this New Age anthology.Peter O’Neill is an Irish writer, poet and editor. He has written a trilogy based on experiences living in France and 2 books of poetry that received critical acclaim. Novel – set in Cork explores the theme of a 17 year old boy looking for his first sexual experience, brilliant nature imagery and an expounding use of the Celtic vernacular that almost reminds This Writer of Black meme. Also noteworthy is Trinity College Dublin 2014, a university student’s experience of being in a lecture hall presenting the beginnings of war and sexual attraction. “When old age sat with her memories going through every one/ living out some paradigm of Nietzche’s eternal return”.Anamaria Crowe Serrano was born in Dublin, Ireland. She is a Poet, teacher and translator of poetry. Her work is brilliant, on fire and brilliant with passion. The truncated broken delivery of sexual violence, a protest, an indictment of the war economy. on first reading Stuart Kendall’s Gilgamesh “I digress the real garment is not wispy gauze but woven with my pubic hair (4)/ the primitive joy of it/ against your thighs and your crotch” (4) Bethesda houses your civility healing is irrelevant after this. The words are spread across the page with spaces as if struck by lightening.Strider Marcus Jones is a lawyer, Poet, and ex-civil servant born in England but his people are from Ireland and Wales. He is widely published in literary journals and has written 5 books of poetry. Love is Stripped to Sharing Bread and Pouring Out and In are excellent examples of his work, erotic and surreal, the poetry lives like a painting in the shadows of silence. At the end of the latter poem are the Celtic words “mo anam chara/ mo ghra” which in English mean “my friend, my true soul”.Sarah Brown Weitzman is widely published in anthologies and journals. She has been nominated for the Pushcart Prize and a Fellowship Award for poetry from the National Endowment for the Arts. A History of Blue is a Celtic New Age synergy, profound in parts with a celebration of Imagist influences.Eithne Lannon is a teacher and Poet living in Dublin. She has been published in The Letter, Irish Journal for Laconian Psychoanalysis and A New Ulster. Ritual is the theme of washing the body of a dead infant, compelling. Everywhere brushes with Imagist influences, an original play with language.“ego scatters as soft rain through intimate air,sound-ripples wane after birdsong and the skyis tinctured with a vacancy suspended in its wake.”Colm Kearns, born in Ballybrack, Co Dublin. He is a Poet with an MA in Comparative Literature, the majority of his work is published in The Runt a magazine he co-founded. He runs an open mic in Dun Laoghaire pub Scott’s. Euro 88 and the poetry excerpts from his latest project, the “history of UEFA European Championships”, is an inside look at soccer matches in poetic prose, all the action, all the intrigue. And Agamemnon Dead, poetry in New Age synergies, the theme of violence and love intertwines, enlightens and sings in. A very strong presentation of leading New Age Irish poets, a classic. All the poetry bling from Ireland this Christmas.
