Mr. Yates does his best work on the poems that are snappy, tongue-in-cheek, like "I Am the Square of Sunday" and "Where's the Action?" or in the historical settings like "Dust Bowl Days in Oklahoma". The collection would have flowed better if it had been organized into categories or themes, as I found it difficult to jump from one topic to the next. But there are some real gems in DREAMS REWRITTEN, and I have marked my favorites to read again!

The author provides us with a wealth of diverse poems to consider, as seen in the segments of his book named for the different stages of his life; “Consenting to Life,” “Reflections,” “Resisting Death” and “Loving In Between.” In these sections, Mr. Yates gives us glimpses into his life that are both candid and evocative.When reading his work, it is apparent that he is deeply spiritual, a great lover of family and nature and a true seer of his own mind. His imagery has both clarity and immediacy.Mr. Yates states: “All poetry is autobiographical. All life is a metaphor. All metaphor is poetry.” By the time I finished reading this book, I was left with a sense of great anticipation for his next one! His work is terribly underrated and I certainly believe that will undoubtedly change some day very soon. Since I read him very nearly three years ago, I fell wonderfully in love with his writing and his words strung together lika drunken dream...I've often said, he writes like a painter, using texture and color, sense and vivid emotion that lift you and guide you along lika fantastic riverflow. He's passionate, fiery hearted just seen beautifully in his meandering, wandering thoughts. They reflect the deep down layers of the heart and the known things we all have, but oftentimes overlook. It's lika stroke of your hair and siren song to your heart. I've a wish that he has a thousand more and then some, Poems to write and stories to tell. This is a writer that will never be stagnant and stuck in the same place for very long...he's progressive and always searching and searching the very essential parts of the human spirit...reflecting them back at you in his own singular way. Truly an artist that changes the very molecules in the air with what he conjures up, what he magick's up. He's one to keep sight of for sure.Hallucinogenic Dragonfly Intermezzo is Mister Powers' latest writing endeavor...his first collection of Poetry. It's a collection of paintings really. You see the brushstrokes and smell the turpentine...all weaved inna beautiful, seductive word traveling. His Poetry takes you in just so nicely, just so knowingly. I have to say that AndEngine is one of the best Android game engines, and it's open source!. But there is no official documentation about it, so this book is the "missing manual" you need to learn how AndEngine works, and create successful Android games. This book covers from the most basic features, like setting up your project, to the more advanced like using native code. This book not only covers all AndEngine features, but adds more features, like using 3D models in AndEngine. So if you develop (or you will) games for Android, this book is for you.

By Bill Jones This book isn't for the absolute beginner, but with some prior reading you'll be able to easily digest this book. I gave the book 5 stars because it covered all the basics that I expect in a Game Programming Book, and having read quite a few of these tech heavy manuals (as well as following along) they should all cover math, theory, game mechanics, design, a solid game loop, and the use of shaders.The book covered skeletal animation with AndEngine which was really great and an added bonus for making your game go from indie to studio quality. The networking implementation was solid, and I always design my network communications prior to writing code so I can get all the logging features sorted out using UML diagrams.I highly recommend this title to anyone who is serious about creating games using AndEngine for Android Game Development, but most important a lot of the features are parallel towards PC/iOS game programming which makes this book more viable as a tool. While you'll have to utilize what you've learned here about design and organization to transfer to a different platform, it's highly possible because this book was so well covered.

It is important to note that this book is not for the C/Java newbie and anyone who does not know there way around the Android SDK. I particularly enjoyed the chapter on OpenGL and OpenGL ES.

I've seen them play to sold-out standing-ovation houses. I've even cried during their shows. But this book is hands-down their most hysterical achievement in a long long line of hysterical achievements. Buy this book. Buy it for friends. Buy it for strangers. Just buy it. And then read it. Or make your friends read it. Or your strangers. Then come back here and tell me how right I am. I like to know that I'm right. Cuz with this book, I'm right. Selections from this book will be shown to guests at my house for years to come.

Hedges The surrealist comedy troupe Kasper Hauser puts their unique spin on airborne shopping with this wonderful spoof of the utterly ludicrous offerings of SkyMall catalogs. I was especially entertained by the narrative of "A Message From SkyMaul's CEO..." extolling how shopping saved his life (in Las Vegas, of course) and kept his family ("lovely wife, Pfepfer," "two children, Horace and Candy," and "Labrador buddy, Melchus") together. With that premise firmly ingrained, the catalog moves from the twisted and bizarre, to the surreal and other-worldly.It's impossible for me to pick my favorite product in the catalog, though I think the Llamacycle would be near the top of the list. I also loved the concept of the "'Cut Above' Electronic Hair-Salon-Naming Computer," ("Hairly Legal," "Shave Me, I'm Drowning," "Banged 'n' Feathered," "From Hair to Eternity," etc.), which with additional modules can also help name your scone cart, coffee shop, or crepe restaurant. The scientific part of my brain loved the "Air Straightener," while the animal lover in me liked the "'Moby Dick' Hamster Coffin." Perhaps my favorite concept in the book is the collection of "motivational posters" from "Probletunity Knocks." I utterly loathe motivational posters, so mocking them was a certain hit with me. For the extremely deranged there's the "Hitler-Turning-into-Werewolf Nightlight," sure to be useful because it's "new monitor function allows the wolf's eyes to follow you or your baby around the room and emits a 'safety growl' anytime someone moves toward it."Although the type of humor in the catalog is occasionally a bit base, the book is funny across the board and is the definitive skewering of the excremental products in the actual SkyMall catalog.

Are they with Saturday Night Live or something? The Onion? The products in their book, SkyMaul, are so twisted and unexpected and funny. I couldn't put this thing down. I read it all in one sitting. The Hitler/Werewolf night light! Who thinks of that? Whatever their next book, I'm in line to buy 12 of them. Very, very funny!
