Though blinded, the irrepressible Job recovered from his wounds and began facing a new set of obstacles with his characteristic humor and resolve. He hunted elk, climbed Mt. A Warrior's Faith: Navy SEAL Ryan Job, a Life-Changing Firefight, and the Belief That Transformed His Life, by Robert Vera

Review #1 AMAZON BEST SELLER & 2016 Illumination Book Awards Silver Medal Winner"Ryan Job was an inspiration to Chris Kyle. Ryan's death and that of Marc Lee were two of the most important reasons he asked me to help him write American Sniper.  Until I read the "A Warrior's Faith" I really never understood the depth of that inspiration.  Spiritual, compelling and true to the SEALs core belief:  Never Quit.  A must read!"-Scott McEwen, Co-Author #1 New York Times Bestseller American Sniper, Eyes on Target and the National Bestseller series Sniper Elite One Way Trip and Target America "I had the great honor to know Ryan Job as a SEAL brother and also as a member of the small unique fraternity. A Warrior's Faith captures the essence of Ryan Job.  From his hysterical dry wit to his relentless Overcome mindset that I have built my own life around. Robert Vera did a great job telling Ryan's story of faith. It is a story that will motivate and inspire, have you laughing and crying, and more than anything, bring you to understand the caliber of man in his walk of faith." -Jason Redman, US Navy SEAL (Retired), Author, The Trident; The Forging and Reforging of a Navy SEAL Leader  "Robert Vera really captures the intensity of the medical and combat situation in Ramadi in 2006. When one reads his account, one feels that he is actually there, in Charlie Medical, with the doctors and medics who fought to save lives. I should know, because I was there!" -Lt. Commander Zack Kitchen, MD (Retired), Former Navy Top Gun Pilot, Physician and Author"This is the story of faith and transformation. It is a story of how Ryan Job's faith influenced many others. We need more men like Ryan Job, instead now we have less. I hope you find this story a light that will inspire, motivate, and remind you that you too have everything you need to be an example for others to follow. There is no limit to what you can accomplish when you surrounded yourself with people of strong character and have God on your side."-Keni Thomas, Army Ranger, Author of "Get It On!: What It Means To Lead The Way", and Country Music StarThe greatest legacy of Navy SEAL Ryan "Biggles" Job is that he "lived the Gospel" and embodied his Christian faith every day, says Robert Vera, author of "A Warrior's Faith," an account of his close friendship with Job, who is portrayed in the blockbuster film American Sniper. Chris Kyle came to Job's assistance after he was shot in the face by an enemy sniper in Ramadi, Iraq and left permanently blinded. Kyle later dedicated his best-selling book to his fellow SEAL Team 3 member.-CNS NEWS: Blinded Navy SEAL in 'American Sniper' Lived the Gospel Every Day

Heartwarming look into Faith and a Combat wounded veteran & his civilian friend By Amy Beth Heartwarming and eyeopening book (memoir) about faith, combat wounded and life in the real world. This is from a civilian's perspective and should be read by everyone. I am the spouse of a 20 year military veteran. This war is very real to people that are involved with the military. Books like this give civilians a peek into the military life and it gives hope to military veterans. Ryan "Biggles" Job was a great SEAL and a great American. There are a lot of veterans in your area that are just like Ryan. ~ Please reach out to the veterans in your community, read this book and share it with others. This book will "move" you. I laughed out loud at the part where Robert and Ryan where shopping in the mall for a gift for Ryan's wife (page 113). I also cried in a few places (you will too). I really felt like I got to know the people in the book. The peek into their lives was truly moving. I love the entire book but I must say that the thing that I want to stay with me forever is found on pages 189-190, "Lesson's from Ryan's Life". This book is not just for Christians or military people. It is for everyone! I highly recommend that you read or listen to this book. Maybe even donate to Camp Patriot, the charity that is mentioned in the book. God's blessing to us all, especially our military members!Addition: I do not want to give any spoilers but I can add more details. The 14 chapters in 3 sections. Part one is TESTED, part two is TRANSFORMED and part 3 is REDEEMED. The book is 190 pages and the sources are noted well, at the end of the book. The Forward is written my veteran and singer Keni Thomas (the forward is a must read too) There is a Timeline on paged 193-195. I recommend that you look at this prior to reading the book and then refer to it as needed. The Afterword on pages 191-192 gives a little more insight and some closure. I was curious about Trey and happy to know how he is doing too. Therapy dogs are truly amazing.

Kyle goes through that story in-depth and how the SEAL team rallied around for the medical evacuation. Ryan, despite the gruesome wound and pain, would leave the battlefield under his own power so that his brothers in arms could fully fight against the insurgency. The wound would cost him his eyesight. Later on in that book, Kyle would have a cursory mention of Job's marriage and his unfortunate demise. This book, A Warrior's Faith by Robert Vera, picks up where Kyle's book left off. It unveils some of Job's accomplishments in mountain-climbing and adjustments in daily life. The author is good at capturing real life moments with all their humor -- wait till you read about the mall shopping experience -- and he has a cleverness about him. For instance, he speaks of his fascination with the book of Job, how God tested that man's faith, and the irony of this Navy SEAL's experience -- another man named Job! He goes on to tell more of the story regarding Job's death due to a medical mistake and how the family responded to this situation. The book is a pretty quick read. It also has some solid passages in the book dealing with servant leadership and offering thought-provoking quotes like this one by poet Mary Oliver on page 165 -- "What is it you plan to do with your one wild and precious life?" Despite those positive issues, I just did not thoroughly enjoy the book. It was okay, and I struggle to articulate why. Look at the words on the back cover, and I did not see how they matched the text I read -- "Ryan Job didn't just live his faith. He lived it ruthlessly." I do not doubt the veracity of those statements; however, the book did not dwell upon them enough. His faith was mentioned in passing without much else regarding detail. If the author spent as much time with Ryan in training and hiking these mountains, then more detail should have been there. When I finished reading the book, I struggled with the title -- A Warrior's Faith. The book appeared to be more about the author than the SEAL Ryan Job. He seemed to invoke that he was part of the "extended family" of the SEALs and named dropped just about any of them there were associated with the book/movie American Sniper. The storyline regarding the medical mistake that led to Job's death was all about the author's intuition and his role in making it right. Even the conclusion of the book, which the author says was four years after Job's death, makes the case that this book was more about the author than the SEAL. It provides an awkward story entitled "Another Blind Guy" that has no connection to Job at all. Please do not misunderstand me -- I know that Ryan Job was an American hero. He suffered on a foreign battlefield to keep us here at home safe. I just think the author missed out on a grand opportunity to make the story about the SEAL rather than the author's experience with the SEAL. If you choose this book and want a comparison to understand what I mean, get a copy of Eric Blehm's Fearless. You will see the story is all about the SEAL with very little mention of the author..Disclosure of Material Connection: I received this book free from the publisher through the BookLookBloggers.com review program. It was said that he didn’t look like a typical Navy SEAL, but once you got to know him, he fit the job perfectly. In 2006, Ryan was shot in the head on a rooftop in Ramandi, Iraq; he insisted on walking off the rooftop, after losing a significant amount of blood, so that no one had to carry him and risk being shot themselves. After being sent to several places to recover, Ryan woke up in Bethesda, Maryland, blind. Ryan did not let this unthinkable event alter his perception of living a life of faith and happiness. He chose to rise above his challenges and continue to inspire many individuals until another tragic event took his life away from him in 2009.A Warriors Faith by Robert Vera is a very powerful book. Before reading it, I didn’t know much about the Navy SEALs. The first part of the book is a lot of military jargon, much of which I didn’t understand. I know that this information is necessary to move the story along, but it seemed to drag a bit. Once the background was laid out, Ryan Job’s story began to unfold at rapid speed. After he was wounded, Ryan turned his life into a meaningful poem. He chose to continue living, instead of dwelling in the past. Not only did he continue to stay fit, he climbed one of the largest mountains in the country, Mount Rainier. A mountain that many people who can see can’t even accomplish climbing.Robert Vera, the author of A Warriors Faith, met Ryan Job, by chance, through a friend in Arizona. Robert Vera does not believe in coincidences. He stresses throughout the entire novel that every event in everyone’s life happens because God wants it to happen. We meet people, have conversations, and read books because we are meant to do these things, because God wants us to do those things.Robert Vera directly compares Ryan Job to Job in the bible. Throughout the entire biography the author directly relates Job and Ryan Job to living the same sort of life: being tested by God because God knows that they can handle it. The similarities between the Jobs are uncanny.A Warriors Faith is an incredible story. I’m so glad I had the opportunity to learn about Ryan Job and many other Navy SEALs who have served our country. Chris Kyle, the author of American Sniper is also referred to in this book. Chris Kyle was good friends with Ryan Job. He was on the roof with Ryan when he was shot in 2006. Ryan Job inspired so many people and his legacy will continue to inspire so many more.I was given a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
