A helpful guide for beginners By Susan Smith I am a new player in this amazing game.But the problem is I'm facing difficulty sometimes at some points of the game.That's because I don't have a perfect knowledge of the game as a whole I guess.So I tried reading the book and actually it helped me ! How so ? Before, I didn't know about different mobs like neutral,aggressive,boss etc.Quite a few times I've got beaten by the boss.Now I know that as a new player it's foolish to start a fight with the boss.Also I learned about the cycles of the day and night,modes of the games and different potions etc. from the book.If you are a pro player , most of the information may seem familiar and boring but believe me for a new player these are of great help.

A must-have for every actor/performer By John Redlinger If you are an actor, performer, or public speaker: RUN do not walk to pick up a copy of this book! It is a treasure trove of no-nonsense insight that offers wisdom to both the novice and the seasoned pro. The main ideas are clear, the structure is easy, and yet each time you put this book down you will find yourself thinking and re-thinking points made and ideas shared. There is no frilly language or pretentious old-school rambling, rather Laskin breaks down what it takes to be a genuine and interesting performer in practical and accessible terms.Haven't even had the book a week, and already the pages are dogeared and margins filled with scribbles. I cannot recommend "The Authentic Actor" highly enough.

Silver If you are already in this business, thinking about getting in or thinking about getting out, read this book. There is much wisdom here. Practical sound advice from a pro who’s been there. Personally, I have been reenergized by reading this book and will immediately put into practice what I have learned here. The Authentic Actor will help you make sense out the difficult show biz struggle. How to deal with it, find success in it and at the same time maintain your artistic integrity.

1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. An Unexpected Guide To Life By Julian Howland “It’s not show business. It’s human business.” — Michael Laskin If you are a builder, you need a saw. If you are a plumber, you need a wrench. Actors require their own set of tools. The Authentic Actor: The Art and Business of Being Yourself, by Michael Laskin, helps actors find the tools they need for success. In the book, Mr. Laskin teaches working actors essential tips to success in their field, including: crying on cue, preparing for an audition, building self-confidence, dealing with rejection, and having faith in yourself. No, I’m not an actor, and I don’t play one on TV. But The Authentic Actor, by Michael Laskin, is more than simply a guide for actors. This book is a guide for life. From the opening pages, The Authentic Actor is captivating. Mr. Laskin states: “There are many ways to live a creative life.” And then he proceeds to offer informative, engaging methods for becoming the best actor (and person) that you can be. I know very little about acting, but I am an avid ballroom dancer, and I am always looking for ways to be more confident. A large portion of the book is devoted to finding out who you are on the inside. Mr. Laskin explains, “To show yourself, you have to know yourself.” And while this is true with actors, the concept also applies to any type of performance art. If you are going to stand up in front of a large group of people, you need to be confident with yourself. Mr. Laskin provides interesting ways to boost confidence levels. The book also lists useful information for making first impressions. Mr. Laskin explains, “When we meet someone new for the first time, we usually have a few instant impressions…We read these unconsciously from body language, dress, facial expressions, tone of voice, and many other signs.” If you come into a reading confident and well-presented, people will be much more impressed than if you come in with your shoulders slumped and biting your nails. This concept can be applied to other performance arts. In dance, it is important to appear confident at all times. Even when you accidentally step on your partner’s feet, you can’t hang your head in embarrassment. Dancers must stand erect and smile. The advice can also assist people in more traditional situations. The other day, I went into a store to apply for a job. I thought about what Mr. Laskin had written, so I dressed professionally and entered the room smiling. I did my best to project a calm, dependable appearance. “How great is your appetite for fear, for uncertainty? Becoming fearless is part of taking life on in general, and it is an integral part of a career as an actor and artist.” Learning to face one’s fears is an intense life lesson. This passage, from the section on risks and rewards, is obviously important for actors. However, Mr. Laskin’s advice can help anyone strive toward their goals, whatever they might be. After an audition, Mr. Laskin says the best thing to do is, “Let it go. You did your best, and either you get the job or you don’t. It often has nothing to do with you, or how you might have auditioned. We can’t know all of the forces at play.” This is an important concept to embrace. You can spend your time after an audition or job interview replaying the event, but that won’t help you land the role or win the job. Moving forward—whatever the outcome—is the goal. Broken into short, one- to two-page segments, The Authentic Actor is in the perfect format to read in small bites. If you find yourself with a free moment between classes (acting or otherwise) or on the bus to work, this is the book to pick up. You’ll find yourself wanting to share the information you’re reading with those around you. (Maybe you’ll even be able to put some of Mr. Laskin’s lessons into play!) Rich in culture and insight, Reflections of the Soul by Gail Hickmanportrays the present and the past of the Okanagan lifestyle. About the Author My name is Gail Hickman, who is an Okanagan Indian from the Okanagan Indian Band located outside of Vernon, British Columbia, Canada. I am married with one son, and the oldest of nine children. As a child, I liked drawing, and then the desire to write poetry snuck up on me. I would write about my life, family, friends, nature, and what were being shown in the media. I would write a poem as a gift for someone I knew, and not keep a copy for myself. As a result, I lost poems between 1986–2007 because I wrote everything by hand. I didn’t own a computer or printer back then that would have made a difference in the world. It is my hope I will regain copies of poems from the past, because they capture my journey. Some of my best poems were written when I was living through different hardships and show how I’ve grown and evolved into a better person. Since 2007, my poetry became influenced by words spoken to my Spirit, vivid dreams/visions, and sometimes nightmares, which stayed with me until I would write the poem then they would disappear and I would be at peace. Other poems were written after watching a documentary or movie that gripped my emotions. I believe in God, His Personal name is Ehyeh/I AM, and that his Son, Jesus Christ of Nazareth is our Lord and Saviour, and I share the word of God in poetry.

A unique view from a unique perspective By Liz Jensen I first met Gail when she was just starting to write poetry for publication and have watched her poetry deepen and mature over the years. Gail is a deeply spiritual person and has an innate sense of compassion for others. Her poetry reflects her inner strength and astute perceptions of people who have shaped her life. She offers her readers a unique perspective that is informed as much by her craft as it is by her world view. A poet to enjoy now and follow in the future.
