The doctorate designation is not shared. But all of the peripheral information about him is secondary to the manner in which he has been so comfortable becoming a popular poet, selling his compilations widely and continuing to write his poetry. As has been stated, his poems `transcend space and time' with historical, contemporary, and philosophical poems - using vivid imagery, sharp use of language, and existential ideas will make you stop and think about the world around you.' We read more about him in this book: ‘Poet/ singer/ songwriter Aaron Laird is no stranger to adversity. After contracting transverse myelitis in 2004, which causes swelling in the spine, and suffering a stroke from a blood clot, Laird was paralyzed. Through ironclad determination and arduous work, he regained the use of his arm and started writing poetry, which eventually led to music. Laird has rapidly become a dramatic force in the poetry recitation and alternative rock scenes.’The poems as presented in this context are rhyming couplets yet not set in stacked lines to emphasize that aspect. A few examples are below:SUMMER RAYSAs I soak in the summer rays, I find myself quite in a daze. The tan soon turns to burn as the water mill does churn. The burn soon turns to scar; has it gone perhaps too far? The next day I apply lotion as I sit by the ocean. Life is a lesson if you pay attention even more than I will mention.SPRING GUSTI feel a spring gust; this day am new, without proverbial rust. The springtime is always a welcome sight, as this season is quite a delight. April showers, as we all know, tend to make May flowers grow. In no time at all it will not be fall; but rather summer will be here. So do not fear; for now, simply enjoy the spring gust. In waiting for summer you simply must.BLUE LIGHTNINGI heard a sound so ever frightening. Hark, I see blue lightning. Where from does it originate? My mind it deteriorates. I see a turquoise mist; an itch I feel on my wrist. I hear a distant thunder as my mind does start to wander. Blue lightning strikes without a sound, soft yet dangerous on the ground.Though Aaron’s poems appear simple and immediately accessible at first, it is the core feeling that he offers that touches the imagination and makes the soul sing. Gentle thoughts, complex feelings, and well-chosen imagery make this selection of his poems sing. Grady Harp, September 15

Perez I've read Dr. Laird's other (newer) poetry book before, and this one is actually very similar to it, although I liked this one better for aesthetic reasons. Anyway, Blue Lighting covers a few dozen different short poems, all of different topics and main ideas. It's really interesting how amusing and light the poems in this book seem at first glance, but if you analyze them long enough, you'll see that there's actually some deep message behind them. As with his other book, Laird presents the poems here in a "funny" and definitely clever way that will truly entertain you. It's a really nice poetry book to read, no doubt. Better check it out!

BLUE LIGHTENING By michaela sefler BLUELIGHTNINGDr. Aaron Benjamin LairdBOOK REVIEW by MichaelaAuthor of Back to the GardenBack to the Garden: New Age thoughts by MichaelaIn this collection of poetry we get an insightful glimpse into Aarons mind, as we see moments inspired by an existence filled with a simple bright vision of moments felt and moments gone by.When I read Aaron's Collection of Poems Blue Lightening I think of vision and will. The book is filled with bright and bittersweet verses, and I am reminded of a quest for discovery and insight, as each moment and each poem if full metaphoric comparisons to an honest light of the truth seeker. I am reminded of truthful sadness woven in a lighthearted verse, as together merging in hope and creativity in dynamic pros.I enjoyed blue lightening and would recommend this book.I highly recommend taking the time and indulge in his creative world. A good place to start is here with Aaron's book ResilienceSpring BreezeI came upon a spring breeze,it blew me up past the trees,as I looked down I saw my,life pass before my eyes, while I flew through the, otherwise empty skies,a bird flew ever near, this bird I did not fear,it was large enough to lift me,my guardian angel I deem thee,it dropped me in a nearby park,I hit a tree and rubbed off some bark, what a day to survive, surely if this, had happened to another, person, theywould not have come out alive.
