3 of 3 people found the following review helpful. Great for learning in a systematic way By Amazon Customer Note, that I had access to an early copy of the book before it was placed here on Amazon.com. Gamemaker: Studio Course is intended for people who want to learn the basics of the Gamemaker Language (GML) scripting language. The Gamemaker Language tutorials are broken into 25 easy lessons. There are arranged in short 2-5 page lessons followed by questions that require the application of what students just learned. For teachers, this is very handy as they can give students a small lesson followed by practice exercises. Then there are some longer exercises that combine more of the material learned together in some larger projects. These exercises also have answer keys available to refer to after working to program the projects on your own. This will be useful reference to use with Ben Tyer's upcoming books that break games into small chunks of working code. Here are the Lessons:Lesson 1 – VariablesLesson 2 – ConditionalsLesson 3 – DrawingLesson 4 - Drawing ContinuedLesson 5 – Keyboard Input and Simple MovementLesson 6 - ObjectsLesson 7 - SpritesLesson 8 - Health, Lives and ScoreLesson 9 - MouseLesson 10 – AlarmsLesson 11 – CollisionsLesson 12 – RoomsLesson 13 – BackgroundsLesson 14 - Sounds and MusicLesson 15 - Splash Screens and MenusLesson 16 – Random NumbersLesson 17 - More Movement (Basic AI)Lesson 18 – Ini FilesLesson 19 – Text FilesLesson 20 – ArraysLesson 21 – DS_listsLesson 22 – LoopsLesson 23 - PathsLesson 24 - TimeLinesLesson 25 - Scripts
