Useful Guide for New & Moderately Experienced Digital Photographer By Bill Anderson Length: 161 pages.This is a terrific introduction for anyone just getting started, and even for those who perceive themselves as experienced (such as myself), in digital photography.Although almost still in the introduction, the author is unabashedly enticing you to sign up for a free companion book, by giving him your email address, I love the snap-bang-pop delivery of this accomplished photography coach.Right at the outset after his signing up, he informs digital photographers of the importance to use manual focus and how to view a closeup of the subject so maximum precision is obtained at the point you desire even with less than optimum lighting. This tip, alone, made this a welcome purchase.Were I buying a digital camera for a loved one for the upcoming Christmas, or as a birthday or wedding gift, make no mistake about it, I would gift them a copy of Digital Photography: 45 Helpful Lessons to Learn Basic of Digital Photography and Make Outstanding Photos.Although some of the tips that follow are commonly dispensed in other books and periodicals (print and digital) the tip on Mirror Lock Up was new to me.I'm going to refrain from extolling all the other features I discovered in this short book, other than to simply say, for me, this is an indispensible guide for my attempts to master the craft of digital photography. Not for money or a career - I'm well beyond that point in my life - but simply so I can shoot photographs that wow, or at least, that don't suck.

By Tjeerd In exchange for an honest review I got the opportunity to read this book for free. You'll notice that I'm not a native speaker and I apologize in advance for my mistakes.Even though I already have a lot of experience with photography, my mindset when reading this book was as if I never had touched a camera before, since this book is clearly addressed to readers new to photography.I like how the author tries to explain every aspect of photography to the readers without overloading them with information. Photography is a very broad topic and it's better to focus on one or two aspects of it then to take it all in. The book explains in an easy to understand way how to approach and focus on a subject.Being comfortable with your camera around your subject, it doesn't matter if the subject is a person, an animal or a flower, is really important. Not being comfortable around your subject will be visible in the pictures that you take. Shooting pictures of animals takes time and patience, while taking pictures at a wedding asks confidence of your ability with your camera and the ability to organize people.As a beginner you won't need all the fancy equipment as the author sometimes wants you to believe, you can get a second hand DSLR for a few hundred dollars.Even though, as an experienced photographer, I don't agree with all the things the author says, I would recommend this book for someone new to photography who is still searching what aspect to focus on.

The author goes into great detail of every aspectof creating great pictures. The only complaint I had was some grammatical issues which do not take awayfrom the content. If I was really into photography I would be really interested in every word he has to sayabout the subject. I found it interesting and I rarely take any photos except mostly when traveling.I received this book free for my honest review.
