By Laurice Jean Baptiste This collection of poems offers the reader a succinct introduction to the life of an immigrant, while humorously reviewing some of the Jamaican culture which left me longing to go home. The poet spins a wide range of themes: love, faith, hope, motherhood, politics and advice to name a few. As soon as I read the first poem I saw myself, parents, family and friends between the lines. Regardless if you are an immigrant or not, there is food for thought as you engaged in Musing Aloud Allowed, a must read!!

Upon opening this book I had no idea what to expect. Taking life experiences and putting them into a book that not just Jamaicans but other Caribbean countries, people that have been through the same experiences whether adults or children. Mentions of the Blue Mountains and National Heroes. Taking me back to the times I had general knowledge every morning before the start of class. Musing Aloud, Allowed.

Definitely Recommended By OccasionalBuyer Musing Aloud, Allowed offers an interesting insight to the immigrant experience, coupled with the beautiful imagery of her native country. Her book not only focuses on what it's like to be an immigrant starting over, but on other topics like love, politics, hope and others. This book offers content that can be reflected on and shared with many. It's a great, thought-provoking read that I would definitely recommend.
